Volkswagen T5 4 berth with an elevating pop-top roof. A perfect compact campervan for travelling and experiencing New Zealand. Suitable for two adults and two children. Full-width double bed in the main cabin for adults and a sleeping mattress in the pop-top for the children. The roof section is quite large and will easily accommodate adults if that is your preference (at least you can pretend to be away from the children)
Optional hammock slides into passenger cabin for a fifth berth, suitable for a child only.
The interior of the main cabin has been designed with space in mind, the kitchen pod is a slim minimal unit with a two ring gas burner and sink. Running cold water is pumped to the sink from an onboard fresh water tank and leisure battery. A removable table for dining is mounted on a removable pedestal, easily stored away when not in use.
A full-width RocknRoll bed doubles up as a three person seat during the day. Seatbelts are two full diagonal belts and the centre seat is a lap-belt. Plenty of room behind the seat and rear door allowing for luggage and any camping accessories you may wish to add to your trip.
The vehicle is set up for a portable 12v Engel chest fridge. Pretty handy when travelling, but bear in mind space is at a premium for a family in this size of campervan.
Our recommendation is to swap this for a rugged rotational moulded ice bin, this doubles as a seat or a step up for the pop-top. It will hold ice for three days (providing you don’t keep opening the lid)
Note: The Pop Top canvas is of a lightweight and breathable material and suitable for most New Zealand summer conditions. It is not designed to withstand heavy torrential rain or tropical cyclones that occasionally pass over New Zealand.
